AN OPEN LETTER TO DR. MANMOHAN SINGH – THE PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA AND JANAB ASIF ALI ZARDARI, PRESIDENT OF PAKISTAN.
The U.P.A headed by I. N. Congress have clearly won the elections to the 15th Lok Sabha and will soon form a stable government with Dr. Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister.
At this moment we foresee some good omens; not only for our country alone but for the whole Indian subcontinent. Had N. D. A under the leadership of B. J. P won the elections, Pakistan would have seen a danger for her security, seeing in it the rise of aggressive Hinduism. But in the U. P. A Government, they will not see such a danger and the democratic forces in Pakistan will be strengthened, and they will be more willing to come closer to India.
President Barak Obama’s efforts to bring both Pakistan and India closer will be successful this time. Obama is the first president of U.S.A. who can and does see both India and Pakistan with equal importance in his fight against the Terrorism of Al Qaida and Taliban. Under his leadership, it seems, the problem of Palestine too will be amicably solved and there will remain no justification for the existence Al Qaida. Taliban was a Frankenstein created by both U.S.A and the military leaders of Pakistan to remove Russian forces from Afghanistan. Pakistan has fully understood this menace which was trying to engulf and disintegrate it and is fully engaged in removing that danger from its soil. It seems Taliban too will be soon destroyed like L.T.T.E in Sri Lanka.
The democratic forces in Pakistan too must have seen by now that aggressive postures against India are not going to be fruitful. On the contrary, peaceful amicable and cooperative means will help both the nations to be more peaceful and prosperous.
We believe, the time has now come to form a strong federation of sovereign nations of Pakistan, India and Bangladesh, as visualized by Sri Aurobindo in his message to the nation on the eve of Independence – 15th august 1947, forgetting all narrow divisions of religion, of caste and creed. If Pakistan, India and Bangladesh unite under a free and firm federation, other nations on the border, Afghanistan, Nepal, Mynamar and Sri Lanka too will be willing to join such a great subcontinental Federation. They are already working under SAARC as a loose federation on economic and business level. SAARC is not fully successful till now because Pakistan and India are at loggerheads! Once amicable, sincere and friendly relations develop between India and Pakistan, the whole of South Asia will be a conflict-free area, living in peace and prosperity, uprooting small terrorist, divisionist groups, thus removing the unnatural partition thrust upon us by the British and our own wily, ambitious and greedy politicians.
Ritam, Gouri-Gautam Dharmapal and friends.
