Smt kalyani Bose has written, quoting two letters from Sri Anirvan -

Today, the Raksha Bandhan day, is the birthday (according to the lunar calendar) of Sri Anirvan's Guru, Swami Nigamanandaji.
I shall quote a letter from Sri Anirvan, the scholar saint of Bengal. -
.
"I came to the Ashram from college in Calcutta during the summer vacation. One evening I was outside with Thakur, with no one else around. The evening sky was dark and studded with stars.
Thakur was smoking the gurguri (Indian hookjah - system of smoking tobacco, passing through water).
He stopped smoking, looked at me and said, "Brahman is SIMULTANIOUSLY the dark Akash as well as the Akash effulgent with light. When you realise that, you will have the Highest Knowledge."
Saying this he went inside."

On another occasion Sri Amirvan wrote to Swami Satyananda:
"When I first saw him (Sri Nigamananda) I did not see him as a Sannyasi (ascetic). I saw him as Thakur (Lord). Full to the brim, like a lake in monsoon. And my adolescent eyes saw the Eternal Adolescent in him. Later there was Ashram, Matth, etc. and the full moon started to wane. He himself used to say, 'I am caught in the net of work.'
I would say, 'Leave all this work, and allow us to go out. Be our Thakur again, our Thakur living under the tree. We will go a-begging for you.'
He would say,'That can never happen again.'"
