HIs rich poetic style was the admiration of Bengal. He translated Sri Aurobindo's "The Life Divine" into Bengali "Divya Jeevan Prasanga." Sri Autobindo called it "a living translation."

  •  I wished to know the name of the latest editor and the mail Id for correspondence. May I see Dr. Gautam Dharmapal at Kolkata in July? If so what is his address / contact No? Excuse me if it is unexpected for I don't have recent contacts.

  • Actually the translation of ' Life Divine ' is ' Divya Jeevan' , which Sri Anirvan said came to him automatically. Sometimes the corresponding Bengali words flowed in and later he found exactly the same words in a dictionary.
' Divya Jeevan Prasanga' and 'Yoga Samannaya Prasanga' are treatises on ' Life Divine' and 'Synthesis on Yoga' respectively.

  • Thank you, Kalyani ji! It is so helpful when someone corrects mistakes.
  • Sri Anirvan was born in 1896 and Rabindranath passed away in1941. Actually, Sri Anirvan had attended a number of meetings and 'Sabhas' which were presided by Rabindranath. Sri Aurobindo never 'asked' him to translate, but when he did and Sri Aurobindo's permission was sought, he congratulated Sri Anirvan by saying that it was a 'living transkation'.
